Learning to trust God through uncertainty, growth, and the refining proces
When you hear the word courage, what images come to mind?
Is it the king of the jungle—the lion, Panthera leo? The lion earns this title because of its majestic presence, its roar that rattles your soul, and the way it carries itself when potential predators are within its reach. Or do you picture a prize fighter—gloves raised, pounding them together, ready for the next round in the ring? These images, and many others, are often associated with courage.
A Different Kind of Courage
Yet, the courage I am referring to has nothing to do with posturing, positioning, or predators.
One of God’s instructions in the Bible is to “take courage.” But what does that really mean?
To take means to reach out and lay hold of something. Courage, then, is not just a feeling—it’s a choice. It’s the decision to move forward with confidence, even when fear is present.
Where True Confidence Comes From
That confidence comes from faith—trusting that God is with you. His Word reminds us that He will never leave you or forsake you.
When you align yourself with Him, you can step forward knowing that He is guiding your path. This doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges. There will be moments of uncertainty and concern.
But with God on your side, those challenges will work together for your good.
Courage Is a Refining Process
Courage and confidence are often developed in those very moments. It is a refining process—one that teaches you, stretches you, and helps you grow.Through each experience, you gain lessons that shape your life—not just in knowledge, but through real, practical living.
“Courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s choosing to trust God in the middle of it.”
A Reminder from Scripture
Throughout Scripture, we are reminded to “take courage.” These words are more than encouragement—they are a call to trust God in the middle of fear, uncertainty, and life’s challenges.
Take Courage Today
Today, make the decision to take courage.
Whatever you may be facing—uncertainty, fear, or a step into the unknown—choose to move forward in faith. Trust that God is with you, guiding you, strengthening you, and working things out for your good. Take one step today, even if it feels small. Pray, trust, and move forward anyway.
Because courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s the decision to trust God in the middle of it.
